University of Michigan: Celebrating 200 Years
The voices of students, faculty, and alumni are woven together to convey the collective purpose and spirit of Michigan
Challenge
To celebrate its Bicentennial, the University of Michigan was planning a variety show featuring theatrical performances, orchestral concerts, and some of its most famous alumni. But with 200 years of history, it was proving near impossible to capture all of the voices that make up Michigan.
Solution
What’s always amazed us about Michigan is how everyone—alumni, students, faculty—share a collective experience. To convey this, we identified a set of themes that fit into the Bicentennial event narrative. We then traveled the country to capture interviews with over 50 Wolverines, including astronauts, Nobel laureates, artists, activists, and of course, the voice of Darth Vader.
